Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information SCAD3D Insights (“we”, “us”, “the site”) collects when you visit scad3d.com, how it is used, who processes it, and the choices and rights you have. We aim to describe only what the site actually does — nothing more.

1. Who we are

SCAD3D Insights is an independent market insight publication. For the purposes of EU and UK data protection law, SCAD3D Insights is the data controller. You can reach us about any privacy matter at info@scad3d.com.

2. What we collect

Server and hosting logs

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. As with most websites, basic technical information is automatically recorded for each request, including IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. These logs are used for security, reliability, and operational purposes.

Form submissions

The site has two simple forms:

• Get Updates — collects your email address, along with a timestamp, browser user-agent, and referring page.
• Contact — collects the name, email address, optional subject, and message you submit, plus the same technical metadata.

Both are stored in a private Google Sheet via Google Apps Script. Contact submissions are also forwarded by email to info@scad3d.com so we can reply.

Analytics

The site uses two analytics products:

• Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights — cookie-less, aggregate analytics about page views and page performance. They do not set cookies, do not identify individuals, and are always active.
• Google Analytics — uses cookies and may collect device, behaviour, and approximate location information. Google Analytics is only loaded if you accept cookies in the consent banner.

Advertising

With your consent, the site may display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads. AdSense scripts are only loaded if you accept cookies in the consent banner.

Browser storage

Independent of cookies, the site stores two small items in your browser’s local storage:

• Your cookie-consent choice (accepted or declined), so the banner does not reappear on every page.
• Whether you have liked an insight, so the heart icon stays filled for you. This value lives on your device only; it is not sent to us.

3. How we use your data

Email addresses provided through the “Get Updates” form are used only to send notifications when a new insight is published on SCAD3D Insights. We do not sell them, do not share them with third parties for marketing, and do not use them for any other purpose.

Information submitted through the contact form is used only to respond to your enquiry. Replies are sent from info@scad3d.com.

Analytics data is used in aggregate to understand which insights are read and how the site performs. Server logs are used for security and reliability.

4. Legal basis (EU and UK readers)

Where the EU GDPR or UK GDPR applies to your visit, the lawful bases on which we process your data are:

• Consent — for cookie-based analytics (Google Analytics), for advertising (Google AdSense), and for joining the “Get Updates” list.
• Processing necessary to handle your request — when you send us a message through the contact form.
• Legitimate interests — for basic server logs, security, and cookie-less aggregate analytics that do not identify individuals.

5. Service providers

We rely on the following third-party processors to operate the site. Each handles data under its own privacy and security obligations:

• Vercel Inc. (United States) — hosting, server logs, Vercel Web Analytics, Speed Insights.
• Google LLC (United States) — Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Sheets and Google Apps Script (used to store form submissions and send notification emails).
• Zoho Corporation (EU data centre) — outgoing email delivery for info@scad3d.com.

These providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where applicable, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other transfer mechanisms recognised by data protection authorities.

6. How long we keep your data

• Subscriber emails — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
• Contact form submissions — retained for up to 24 months for follow-up reference, then deleted.
• Server logs and analytics data — retained according to each provider’s default retention periods.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. When you first visit the site, a banner asks whether to accept cookies. Your choice is stored locally and remembered for future visits.

• If you accept, Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set cookies.
• If you decline, no analytics or advertising cookies are loaded.

You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. To withdraw consent later, clear cookies and local storage for scad3d.com.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent (without affecting processing already carried out), and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. 9. Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has submitted data through the site, please contact us so we can remove it.

Form submissions are stored in a private Google Sheet under an account protected by two-factor verification. The site is served over HTTPS only. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; we act in good faith to protect the data we hold but cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, services, or legal requirements. When we make changes, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. We encourage readers to review this page periodically.
